The Grapes Are Ripening
There is something special about this time of year in the vineyard.
The grapes are ripening on the vine, the Estate is quiet but full of anticipation, and the team are watching the season unfold as harvest edges closer.
If you would like to be part of this year’s grape harvest, we are looking for energetic, hard-working and reliable pickers to join us at Calancombe Estate.
It is physical, outdoor work, but for those who love being outside and would like a genuine behind-the-scenes experience of English winemaking, it is a brilliant way to spend a few weeks in the Devon countryside.
Picking runs from mid-September through to mid or late October, and pays £13.50 per hour plus holiday pay.
If that sounds like you, get in touch with Caroline at caroline@calancombe-estate.com.
Christmas at Calancombe
We know Christmas feels a long way off when the sun is still shining, but Calancombe fills up earlier than you might expect.
If you are already thinking about a Corporate Christmas lunch, a celebration dinner for a group, or something more memorable than a standard restaurant booking, now is a good time to get in touch.
A working vineyard in South Devon is a very different setting to a hotel function room, and that is exactly the point. Private hire, group tours with tastings, long lunches with wines made right here on the Estate.
Early enquiries will have the best choice of dates, so please do get in touch if you have something in mind.
