EXCELLENT Based on 68 reviews Posted on Google Katherine Arabella We held our office summer party here and had a lovely day. Beautiful setting and amazing wine!Posted on Google Dave Farrow Stunning viewing around the vineyard followed by a very informative talk on the wine making process here at Calancombe, looking at all of the equipment needed. This then led us to a charcuterie lunch with a fabulous tasting of a range of their wines, ciders, and blackcurrant Crème de Cassis. A very enjoyable afternoon birthday surprise.Posted on Google Paul King Excellent cheese and wine tasting experience in a lovely setting. Delicious English sparkling wine.Posted on Google Howard Brewitt Such a lovely venue. We went there for lunch with friends, did the wine tasting with cheese and charcuterie. The wine is good and the food delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. The venue was relaxed, especially in the sun. Shame they are closed until spring 2025 as we wanted to come back and try more of the food. Hopefully they will be back next year, in the same format.Posted on Google Seonaid Stirling We visited Calancombe for the first time yesterday. We did the Super Taster Wine Tasting and had lots of amazing cheese and wine. The whole team were great and really knew their stuff. It felt like we were in Australia - sitting outside in the sun in a beautiful setting drinking great wine - incredible for late October. We were gutted to hear they’re closing and aren’t sure what it’ll look like when it reopens. It would be such a shame if it lost the current vibe and team. Please reopen in the spring!Posted on Google Matt Govier Had a fantastic time here - relaxing in the sun in late October outside on their patio, whilst having a wine tasting and cheese / charcuterie board. Exceptional food and wine. Great service. Amazing ambiance. So sad to hear that they are closing for a prolonged period this winter - really hoping they will open up with the same vibe early next year as we will definitely be back (please don’t become some pretentious Michelin star grabbing institution - that would ruin what is currently a fantastic set up!).Posted on Google Marcel Roccia Definitely worth the narrow winding lanes to get to the vineyard as food is exceptional- good selection if choices on the menu. Service was friendly and welcoming and atmosphere very good . Highly recommend for good wines and excellent food. We will be back ! A real findPosted on Google Nick Grodhunce Simply delightful, food delicious and quite innovative. Service first class and front of house attentive, helpful and a font of knowledge about the Estate, walks, wines, food sources etc etc Been three or four times now and I’m sure will have many more visits.Posted on Google bansri shah We spent the afternoon at the estate for the grand tour and lunch. Fantastic tour led by Agnes of the vineyard - she was very knowledgeable and engaging! The lunch and wine tasting was fantastic and against a wonderful outdoor setting. The location is fantastic and we were lucky with the weather. The owners Caroline and Lance have created a wonderful relaxed atmosphere with quality product in a friendly setting. A must visit for south Devon!
Our story began in 2012 when Caroline and Lance Whitehead bought the Calancombe Estate in South Devon, located between Dartmoor and the coast and with origins that can be traced back to the 16th century. Blessed with a unique microclimate, south-facing slopes and free draining soil, the Estate is ideally suited for our award-winning Devon wine production.
